Your Guide to Simple and Tasty Salad Recipes

For beginners, the hardest thing about making salad recipes is choosing the ingredients as it can easily turn out wrong. The following recipes are simple enough novice cooks can follow them with ease.
Salad with Bacon
Ingredients
3/4 cup diced carrot
1 cup uncooked couscous
1 1/2 cups of water
3/4 cup diced cucumber
1/2 diced red bell pepper
1/2 (15 ounce) can garbanzo of beans (drained, rinsed)
1 cup of uncooked couscous
1 chopped onion
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
2 teaspoons curry powder
1 tbsp white sugar
2 tbsp of white balsamic vinegar
Salt
Pepper
Directions
Begin making salad recipe by putting the bacon in a skillet. Cook it for 10 minutes at medium high heat. Drain the bacon and put it on a plate with paper towels. When it has cooled, crush the bacon to bits. Set it aside.
Drain the bacon drippings until 1 tbsp of it remains in the skillet. Add the onion to the skillet. Cook until the onion turns brown. Boil water in a saucepan and add the couscous. Take off the pan from the heat. Leave it standing for 5 minutes.
Fluff the couscous using a fork. Get a small bowl. Add the garbanzos, red bell pepper and cucumber. Add the couscous, carrot and onion too.
Get another bowl. Mix the sugar, white balsamic vinegar, curry powder, soy sauce and olive oil. Add the salt and pepper. When making salad recipe, keep mixing until the sugar dissipates. Sprinkle this over the salad. Add the bacon bits.
Broccoli Salad with Bacon
Ingredients
4 cups of chopped broccoli
1 pint of halved grape tomatoes
2 chopped green onions
1 cup of bottled coleslaw dressing
2 (8 ounce) packages of tortellini
1 lb of bacon
Directions
Cook the tortellini as per package instructions. After draining, rinse with cold water. Let it cool for half an hour in the fridge. Cook the bacon in a skillet for 10 minutes until it turns brown. After the bacon is drained, put it on a plate. Slice it into small pieces.
Put the grape tomatoes, bacon, broccoli and tortellini in a bowl. Sprinkle the dressing over it. Toss to coat. After making salad recipe, let it cool in the fridge prior to serving.
Couscous Salad with Spices
Ingredients
1/2 cucumber
3 tbsp chopped fresh mint
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 juiced lemon
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
3 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
3 tbsp chopped fresh basil
1 clove garlic
1/2 cup crushed feta cheese
2 cups couscous
3 cups water
1 fresh chopped jalapeno pepper
Directions
Boil water in a saucepan. Place it away from the heat and add the couscous. Allow it to stand until the couscous gets all the water. Use a fork to fluff it. Mix all the other ingredients in a bowl. Pour the couscous over it.
Making salad recipes can be fun as you can try out different ingredients. Once you know the basic process, you can try various vegetables and spices to give it flavor.
