Making Up Your Own Bbq Sauce Recipes

Getting someone's BBQ sauce recipes away from them is almost never possible, and with some basic background ingredient information you too can have your own delicious secret. Depending on where you live, certain types of sauces might be more prominent. Specifically, the bases for your area's barbecue may be certain items. For instance, the south east states have sauces that are based with vinegar and mustard, while Texas-style barbecue is tomato based.

While you do not have to work with the bases that are mainly found in BBQ sauce recipes in your region, it is good to know so that you can pinpoint the bases that you like and use them in your own delicious sauce.

The sauces that are often found at any grocery store are usually lack-luster and do not have the same punch that homemade recipes do. While it would be nice to say that it is because they are mass-produced, the fact is that BBQ-making companies simply can not make delicious BBQ for every region. On top of that fact there are just some ingredients that seem to be popular all over the country. However, do not let the ones found in stores entice or confuse you: real BBQ is made in a particular way and if you want to be able to cook up a sauce that is truly delicious, you are going to have to really jump into the world of barbeque.

You will find that most sauces are tomato, vinegar, or mustard based. It is fairly easy to determine which type is the kind you have grown to love over the years considering the extremely varied tastes between the three bases. Those that are based with vinegar are more sour, and the ones that are based with mustard are usually fairly tangy. Sauces that are tomato-based are often more thick than the other two and can be used to host a whole array of flavors at once.

Besides the bases are, of course, the other seasonings. Some of the most common seasonings are: onion, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, cayenne, salt, pepper, bourbon, molasses, various tangy fruits, and more. Though do not go with what is most common, go with what you think is delicious. Depending on where you are from and the type of BBQ you grew up with, you could like certain flavors that are very much different from what people in another area would.

That's the great thing about BBQ sauce: everyone has a difference recipe, and everyone who makes it puts their whole heart into making the sauce as delicious as possible. There's no question that the flavor of BBQ sauce recipes is a regional thing BBQ sauce recipes are definitely regional, but the joy that comes from chowing down on some quality BBQ is universal.
